Sending birthday wishes; indicating that he is sending her portrait to Stanhope St. after a "blunder on the frame maker's part" is corrected; explaining the reason for his lack of contact as having been busy at work on a portrait of Mrs. [Holme] Sumner; describing his health and the pain relief he has experienced from mesmerism; asking her to give his love to her husband and Miss Munro and indicating that there is little to show at their next visit because of his work on Mrs. [Holme] Sumner's portrait; mentioning that her own portrait has been favorably viewed by several visitors but encouraging her to sit for a second one; appending a post-script regarding the rapidly declining state of his sister Maria's health.
